The Joys of Potty Training!

So this is my third time doing this... still not fun!  I've decided potty training is a right of passage for parents.  All parents do it, no one looks forward to it, yet with the lack of teenagers in diapers, you figure it has to be done.  Well, today was the day for Cannon.  He actually did really well.  I'm a huge advocate of "Toilet Training in Less Than a Day" by Azrin and Foxx.  It worked with the girls and so far, it has with Cannon too.  It was not all smooth sailing.  As you can tell from the happy face, Cannon enjoyed sitting on the potty.  In fact, he sat for over an hour and a half just drinking his soda, eating chips and candy, reading books, singing songs, etc.  Two Sprites later, he still hadn't gone potty (the kids must have a bladder of steal).  Anyway, he got up for just a minute, and wouldn't you know--pee all over my floor.  It was the first of many accidents, but by 1:00 he had the hang of it.  We did lots of celebratory dances, high fives, and hugs for "Pee-pee in the Potty."  I'm nervous to see what tomorrow will bring, but for now I'm enjoying the success of the day and hope for dry days and nights to come!

I don't think I can ever have a sad day as long as I look at this picture. Congrats on his successful day!

I cannot begin to describe how jealous I am. You have four kids, I am about to have four kids, you have three potty trained, I have one and she still has to sleep with a diaper at night. So I am thinking I will pay you good money if you can get Porter potty trained. In all seriousness I am so excited for him. Tell him we are so proud he is such a big boy!

he is so so cute singing that song, he is going to be so mad at you for that video in 10 years. i love that he was sitting there for so long, he must have thought that was great soda and chip what more could a guy need! so cute.

I am also a huge fan of that book. Worked like a charm with both boys. I just did Gavin and I also don't like doing it....it is a hard transition for mom's (the rush the bathroom EVERYWHERE you go). Way to go Susy...now only one in diapers!!
